Summer au pairs tend to have a good base level of English and childcare experience ranging from babysitting to teaching or nursery jobs.   They have references for character, childcare and medical, each of which is checked.  Some are also experienced drivers who would be confident to take children on trips or accompany a parent to provide support.

Summer au pairs can also be more cost-effective than playschemes or other childcare - with the average summer au pair working 25 hours across the week, they will expect weekly pocket money of £55, plus board and lodging.
